Perennials
At last measurement we've received 85 inches of snow so far this winter, so at this point, most of us are eagerly awaiting spring. One thing that has kept us going is knowing that the smell of flowers will soon fill the air. Another thing that keeps us excited is knowing that we have a great selection of perennials available for you this year, including over 75 new varieties.
We've selected the best of the new varieties available this year; so whether it's the Bellflower 'Pantaloons', the Coneflowers 'Tiki Torch' and 'Coconut Lime', the Coreopsis 'Pinwheel', the Gaillardia 'Amber Wheels' or the Coralbells 'Encore', 'Georgia Peach', and 'Tiramisu', we'll have them for you, plus a whole lot more to spark your interest.
The Perennial Plant of the Year for 2008 is the Geranium, or Cranesbill, 'Rozanne'. It grows best in part shade and well-drained, organic rich soil. It has violet-blue flowers that never seem to stop blooming. It can really brighten up a shady bed and works great as a boarder plant. It is a vigorous grower that is not only hardy to our cold, snowy winters, but also our hot, humid summers. A Tremendous Plant!
For you hosta lovers, the 2008 Hosta of the Year is 'Blue Mouse Ears'. It is a petite little hosta with round, cupped blue-green leaves, resembling mouse ears, and lavender flowers. Come check it out along with our other hosta varieties.
As always; we also have a great selection of native plants, ferns, grasses, climbing vines, and groundcovers (including both Stepables® & Jeepers Creepers®) available for your choosing, and if we don't have what you're looking for, we'll do our best to find it for you!
For those of you who enjoy water gardening, a good selection of water plants will be available. Even if you don't have a pond, don't worry; we'll show you how to create a container water garden for your deck or patio. We also carry a good line of pond maintenance products and fish.
Don't forget to check out the calendar of events section for informational opportunities to learn more about perennials, their use, and what's new.
We're anxious too see all of you again; it's been a long winter. Well, hopefully the snow will stop soon and we can trade in our snow shovels for garden ones, but in the mean time, Think Spring!
God Bless and see you soon!
