You’ll discover the monarch’s fascinating life cycle—from egg to caterpillar, to shimmering chrysalis, to adult butterfly—and learn how to raise monarchs in your own backyard through each of these magical stages.
Participants may have the unique opportunity to hold a caterpillar and release a live butterfly (subject to availability), making this a truly immersive and memorable experience. Each attendee will also “tag” a paper monarch to take home—a symbolic way to take part in monarch conservation.
The presentation also explores the monarch’s epic annual migration to Mexico. Learn how researchers track this journey using small, numbered tags placed on butterflies’ wings, and how monarchs follow the “bloom line” northward each spring.
You’ll also receive expert advice on creating a butterfly garden, with a spotlight on monarch-attracting plants like:
804; Milkweeds (Asclepias species)
804; Blazing Star (Liatris)
804; Joe Pye Weed (Eutrochium)
804; Coneflowers (Echinacea)
804; Asters and Goldenrods
Flower and plant guides will be available to help you plan your own pollinator-friendly garden. This program is presented from a Christian worldview, celebrating the beauty, design, and wonder of God’s creation.
Come curious—leave inspired—and begin your very own Monarch Adventure!
