Mark Ebert owns and operates Ebert’s Greenhouse Village. Mark discovered his passion for flowers and the outdoors at age nine when he started began his dad and brother start a vegetable farm and greenhouse.
After getting a degree in marketing from Madison Area Technical College and not discovering something that motivated him, Mark bought his dad’s portion of the greenhouse business in 1990 when it was basically two small greenhouses. At this time his bother Ron said, “I’ll grow it if you sell it!”
Today, Mark manages the team that markets high quality plants. His goal is to wow every customer every time! Although Mark overseas many aspects of the business, his passion is working with the annual flowers, creating new and exciting geranium basket combos and marketing of the business. He says, “I’ve seen many changes to the farm since I’ve been a kid and it will be exciting seeing the new ideas happening in the future!” One of the many ideas that came to fruition in 2020 was the opening of the 10,000 square foot “Fieldhouse” greenhouse built over the site of the baseball diamond Mark used to play on as a child. Also, the Tree, Shrub, and Perennial areas were redesigned and concrete walkways were put in. What else is there to do? “Many things,” Mark is enthusiastic, “we want this to always be a premier destination for all who are searching for peace, inspiration, and beautiful plants.”
On the rare occasions when he’s away from the Village, you may find him on Saturdays at Dane County Farmers Market. If he’s not working, he is spending time with wife Renee and daughter Sierra, listening to 1st Wave and classic alternative music, playing basketball, and jogging or cycling around the Ixonia countryside.
